How You Can Help

Volunteers are fundamental to the well-being of the animals at Alachua County Animal Services. Most private rescues are run entirely or nearly entirely by volunteers. Whether you want to volunteer at adoption events such as those held at Petsmart every weekend, or you would rather volunteer on your schedule at the Humane Society of North Central Florida or Animal Services, volunteers are needed everywhere. If you’re not sure how to get involved, let me know! I’m more than happy to help you get started. If you’d like to volunteer at Animal Services, I can help match you with a dog and give you some tips once you’ve gone through orientation.

Don’t want to work hands on with dogs, but want to help? You can be invaluable in our efforts in marketing. Making flyers, editing photos and vidoes, and sharing on social media all are essential tasks that take away from our time working hands on with dogs.

Doggie Day Out

Dog day outs are an essential part of Alachua County Animal Service’s animal enrichment program. Animal Services understands that dogs don’t show their best selves at the shelter. Dog day outs serve to show dogs off to the public, and also teach us important things about dogs. Finally, they relieve dogs of the stress of the shelter for a time.

Dog day outs are one of my favorite programs at Alachua County Animal Services and at the Humane Society of North Central Florida. Please let me know if you’d like to get involved! I can match you to a dog who is perfect for you.

If you decide one day isn’t enough, you can keep the dog overnight, or foster for a longer period. It’s all up to you.

Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. Most rescues don’t have facilities, so foster homes are where dogs stay between rescue and adoption. Fostering in any capacity, whether it is a day, week, month, or hospice foster, directly works to save lives.

Can’t foster? Support a foster family. A network of foster families work together with Coral Dogs to provide support for one another, whether help is needed with transport, vacation support, supplies, or anything else.

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you are interestd in fostering or providing foster support, or if you are a foster family in need of support.
